Exploren EV Charging Management System

Exploren EV Charging Platform

An enterprise-grade, API-first Charge Point Management System (CPMS) designed for large-scale operators. This report details Exploren’s capabilities across fleet management, billing, and automated employee reimbursement workflows.

The Exploren journey

1. Reporting & Analytics Capabilities

Exploren focuses on providing actionable data through its Report Builder and API architecture, rather than locking operators into rigid dashboards. Operators extract the data they need, in the form they need it, and feed it into their own reporting, billing and finance systems.

Report Builderrole-specific metrics instead of rigid dashboards

Custom dashboards & BI integration

Operators can surface the exact metrics each role needs and extract data for sophisticated, automated Business Intelligence (BI) analysis, instead of working within a fixed set of reports. Automating this analysis removes the manual work of clearing financial relationships with site partners.

Automated data delivery & settlement

The platform handles complex multi-partner revenue sharing. It generates the billable amount automatically at the end of each month, which simplifies settlement between the operator and each partner, and supports custom settlement and reporting processes tailored to each partner’s requirements.

CRM & ERP integration

Operators can export all charging data directly to their existing billing, CRM and ERP systems through Exploren’s API, so reporting sits inside the finance tools they already use and financial reporting can be automated.

2. Fleet Management: One Platform, Every Place You Charge

For fleet operators, Exploren integrates directly with existing fleet management software to oversee depot, workplace, home and public charging in one place. It is an all-in-one EV fleet charging platform for businesses of any size, managing vehicles, chargers, drivers and energy usage in a single system hosted in Australia. Exploren describes itself as powered by Australia’s biggest EV fleet charging software provider. The aim is complete visibility and control at every stage of the EV transition, including for dual-fuel fleets.

Key features

  • Real-time charger and vehicle monitoring
  • Smart reporting and energy analytics
  • Centralised fleet charging management
  • Flexible charging access controls
  • Scalable infrastructure management
  • Reduced operational downtime and improved charging efficiency
  • Easy driver and vehicle tracking

Asset management

Total visibility over every charger in the network from one dashboard. Operators see what is happening in real time, track energy use and costs, generate instant reports, and resolve most issues remotely, often before drivers notice. The result is less downtime, lower maintenance costs and a more reliable EV operation.

Vehicle management

Complete visibility of every EV in the fleet, wherever it charges. Vehicle-linked RFID cards can be assigned in seconds, and charging activity is tracked across home, workplace and public stations, so each vehicle’s activity and cost is visible in one system.

Dynamic Load Management & smart charging

The platform controls energy output so that depot chargers do not exceed a facility’s grid limit. Its advanced smart charging modules include Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) readiness, and operators can integrate smart meters to optimise grid usage and take part in energy flexibility markets.

Plug and Charge (ISO 15118)

Fleet drivers can plug in a compatible vehicle and charging begins automatically. The platform securely authenticates the vehicle’s digital certificate and bills the corporate account, so drivers do not need RFID cards or a mobile app.

In practice. A driver arrives at the depot and plugs in. The vehicle identifies itself to the charger with its digital certificate, the session starts, and the energy is billed to the fleet’s corporate account with no card to tap and no app to open.

Charging at home, at work and on the go

  • Home charging: the Fleet Home Bundle, described in section 3, covers hardware, authentication and staff reimbursement.
  • Workplace charging: access to a broad range of AC chargers, ultra-fast DC chargers and portable charging hardware, tailored to the vehicles and sites. As infrastructure grows, management stays unified across every location.
  • Public charging: access to what Exploren describes as Australia’s fastest-growing public EV charging network. Drivers plug in and tap an RFID card, as easy as a fuel card, and the fleet receives a consolidated monthly bill. Fuel card system integration is available on request.

One platform, every capability

Exploren states that, unlike other EV charging software, it unites OCPP, asset management and load control in one product. Its own comparison is below.

Reporting and integration

Exploren connects directly with a fleet’s existing fleet management systems, giving a single source of truth for every vehicle and charger. Its reporting provides real-time insights intended to simplify operations, improve performance and support better decisions.

Who it is for

Fleet managers at any stage of their electric journey: logistics businesses, service providers, councils, utilities and corporate fleets. Exploren supports fleets of all sizes moving from petrol to electric, and gives visibility and support across multiple depots from one dashboard.

3. Employee Reimbursement for Home Charging

To reduce operational costs, fleets often have employees charge company vehicles at home overnight. Exploren automates the friction of reimbursing employees for their personal electricity use, from the first kilowatt-hour logged to the payment arriving in their bank account. Step through the flow below, then see how each stage works.

Session splitting in the app

The platform connects to the employee’s smart home charger and tracks the exact kWh used. In the Exploren EV driver app, employees can view their charging history and manually mark specific sessions as “Personal”, so those sessions are excluded from the corporate reimbursement tally.

Example. An employee charges a spouse’s car from the same home charger one evening. They mark that session as “Personal” in the app, and it is left out of the amount the company reimburses.

Dynamic tariffs

Exploren calculates the reimbursement from the employee’s own residential rate, not a flat figure. It supports complex Energy Time-of-Use (ToU) tariffs by integrating directly with day-ahead electricity markets, so an overnight charge is costed at the rate the employee actually paid.

Third-party payout integrations

For the financial transfer itself, Exploren integrates through its API with third-party reimbursement platforms. It delivers the reconciled end-of-month data, which automatically triggers the cash reimbursement to the employee’s bank account, and the company’s payroll or ERP receives the compliant record automatically.

Fleet Home Bundle

Exploren designed the Fleet Home Bundle, in partnership with EVSE, specifically to solve at-home fleet charging and staff reimbursement. It includes:

  • No installation needed, and the hardware can be removed and reused as needed
  • Simple staff reimbursements
  • Flexible financing
  • User authentication

4. Operations, Finance, and Support

Exploren is built to reduce the overhead of running a large network through automation and API flexibility. It connects to an operator’s finance systems, payments and support processes, and can bring separate networks onto one platform.

3out-of-the-box payment gateways: Stripe, Braintree, Rapyd
1source of truth for users, payments and support

ERP & financial compliance

Exploren integrates with large corporate financial systems, so regulatory reporting and financial reporting can be automated instead of assembled by hand.

Flexible payments

Out-of-the-box payment integrations with Stripe, Braintree and Rapyd let operators manage their own payments through the gateway they choose.

Platform consolidation

Because of its multi-tenant architecture, operators can use Exploren to unify fragmented networks, managing user bases, payments and support workflows from a single source of truth.
